The Smart Urban Gardens (SUG23) workshop, organized by the City-as-Lab Research Coordination Network (RCN), took place at Arizona State University from November 30 to December 1, 2023. This event gathered researchers, practitioners, faculty, and students to explore Smart Urban Gardens as a solution for enhancing city sustainability. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the workshop included invited talks and design challenges, focusing on identifying needs, gaps, and future directions for promoting equity and sustainability through intelligent urban gardens. The goal was to develop a roadmap report for advancing smart urban gardens towards healthier urban communities.
