The NSF-Research Coordination Network City-as-Lab invites you to a panel discussion with speakers who participated in our Series Part V focusing on Researchers Talks on Community Engagement during the 2021 Fall and a guest panelist from Arizona State University. The panel will discuss some aspects of the topics previously presented and seek for identification of research gaps around community engagement.

This panel will be moderated by

Dr. Chingwen Cheng, PLA, LEED AP, Program Head & Associate Professor at the Design School in Arizona State University. 

Panelists:

Dr. Michael Menser, Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College. Associate Director at the Science & Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay. Dr. Menser presented: Sustained Community Engagement in the Jamaica Bay.

Dr. Erik Johnston, Professor at Arizona State University & Co-Director of the Center for Smart Cities and Regions. Dr. Johnston prosented: Designing Smart (Curious, Humble, Empathetic) Cities.

Jeffrey Raven, FAIA., Associate Professor at New York Institute of Technology & Member of the NSF-Research Coordination Network. Pr.esented on: Research to Climate Action: Urban Design and Climate

Guest Panelist: 

Dr. Margaret Hinrichs, Assistant Research Professor in the School of Complex Adaptive Systems at Arizona State University. Dr. Hinrichs research has led to recommendations for harnessing the natural complexity of diverse groups and interests for inclusive, community-centered convergence research.
